Dear Friend of the Benedictine Sisters
As I write this column in mid-October, we are enjoying a very pleasant Fall. I know that by the time you receive this issue of the LBW, the weather may have changed dramatically and Winter once more pouncing upon us.
When there’s a chill in the air outside, we look for ways to keep warm. We may turn up the thermostat, light the fire place, grab another blanket, or huddle closer together with family and friends.
You’ve heard of “cold hands, warm heart”. The opposite can be true as well. Some times it happens that we feel that our hearts have grown cold. We are not sure why we feel despondent, isolated, fearful, and even hesitating in our relationships. Entering into the Advent and Christmas Season is a perfect remedy for such feelings. Advent fills us with a warming sensation as we anticipate the coming of Jesus into our lives. During Advent, we wait for the rising of the Sun of Justice with His healing rays. The Dawn from on high will come. His light and His presence warm our hearts with the fire of his love and make us a source of warmth for others.
For all of the ways that you have warmed our hearts during this past year by your presence in our lives, we are most grateful. You will be lovingly remembered in our Christmas Novena of Masses.
Advent and Christmas Peace,
Sister Judith Ann Heble, OSB
