  By Sister Roberta Knakal, OSB

Return to Welcome Page

From July 17—21, 2007 Sister Roberta Knakal, OSB participated in a combined conference of the Benedictine Musicians of the Americas and the Monastic Liturgy Forum. Sixty-five Benedictine musicians and liturgists from throughout the United States, Canada and the Bahamas gathered at Sacred Heart Monastery and Mount Marty College, Yankton, South Dakota for this event.
The conference included keynote addresses by Father Raymond Studzinski, OSB of St. Meinrad Archabbey in Indiana on the theology of aging, and Dr. Beth Mikkelsen, MS, gerontology specialist from Yankton, on the physical aspects of again.
Musicians had been invited to compose music to texts submitted by notable Benedictine poets and share the combined efforts with participants and their Benedictine communities.
The Liturgical Press from Collegeville, MN, was on hand with an interesting display of liturgical musical materials for purchasing.
