Bingo on Thursday

For nearly seven years now Nancy Albrecht volunteers her time to provide the Benedale Residents with Bingo on Thursday evenings. Stella Rosendall is a winner this time. Nancy has also been known to provide evenings of food and refreshments as well. The sisters are always welcome.

St. Patrick’s

Benedale residents enjoy the music of Tom Black, son of resident Dorothy Black,  who comes annually to entertain us on the feast of St. Patrick’s. The sisters are always invited.

Rosary and Stations of the Cross

Among the many ways residents are able to participate in the prayer life of the Church, residents and sisters and sisters were encouraged to attend the praying of the Stations of the Cross on Fridays during Lent. Continuing the practice started by Sister Rosalie Marie, Sister Mary or one of the residents leads the Rosary in chapel daily for all who choose to come.

Statues are back

Thanks to many generous donors the statues for our grotto (Blessed Virgin Mary and St. Bernadette) have been repainted and have been placed in their niches in the grotto. To ritualize their return residents and sisters were invited to a short Marian devotion held outdoors on the feast of the Annunciation.

Benet Girls

Each year the Marians at Benet Academy, under the moderatorship of Sheila Jacklich, decorate the Sisters monastery corridors as these lovely Easter Baskets are placed outside each sister’s room. The baskets are filled with a large variety of surprises including candy, flowers, and notions of all sorts, stuffed animals, stationery, and stamps among other things. We sisters say thanks to Mrs. Jacklich and the Marians for their generosity.

Sundays at the movies

Recently The Villa Center has acquired a large TV for resident use. Besides having the opportunity to play games like boxing, gulf, tennis and bowling, there is scheduled video or DVD that plays each Sunday afternoon. On March 25, commemorating the anniversary of the death of Archbishop Oscar Romero, Sister Mary held a video discussion of the movie Romero. Sisters are always invited to come.
